A Father's Day Thanksgiving

Although it's Father's Day and I guess I should be the one getting the cards and phone calls, I wanted to reverse things a little and mention my son, Andrew. Andrew (in person I still call him Andy and probably always will), just finished basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. He obtained the rank of Airman First Class out of basic training and now will be receiving his specialized training in applied geophysics at Goodfellow Air Force Base (deeper in the middle of Texas).

I thank God for my son. He's grown immensely in the last few months; and the growth in maturity was evident to his mother, Jeanette, and I when we saw him last week for the first time since we dropped him off with the Air Force. He is serving his country and we are immensely proud of him (the picture is of us at the base chapel service.

We pray for our son daily. He's doing a great thing and I just want everyone who takes time to read my little blog to know that.
